Christmas Candy in July

Where does all the Christmas paraphernalia go for the summer? Answer: the back of the pantry. Found this jar of leftover hard candies in our pantry while scouting interesting things for my still life challenge. I liked the out-of-context feel of it and the forgotten little sweeties, just sitting there, seemed sort of hopeful, in a way.

LOL - mine are in a glass pumpkin jar, thus combining the two great candy holidays ;-) [the red M&M guy is for the Valentines' candy ;-))]

well done rendering, glass and all...

So true! Mine are in the back corner of my pantry. Poor things are soaking up humidity and will probably be a bit plain by December. Oh well, kids don't care, ha!! Great Job! I love this painting!

I do have an unopened box of candy canes with all my Christmas stuff. I had hoped to do a painting with them, but never got it done. Maybe I should do one now. I lvoe the shading and highlights on your jar and the candy wrappers. I love this!

This is simply amazing--I can't even begin to imagine how you drew all that crinkly cellophane! The candies and the jar are very fine too (I love the reflected light on the upper left). A challenging subject to draw!
